Postby rex » Thu Aug 08, 2019 6:39 pm

hi guys hoping someone can help.ive been driving my beautiful 1995 2.0 dohc petrol transit with manual for 3 years and would luv to have an automatic box fitted.(old motorcycle injuries catching up) have had Fords since 1974 and became a Vanner 15 years ago and dont want to stop.i used to taxi drive a sierra ghia to 425000 miles on one of these engines with an autobox.i keep getting told on the van it cant be done. Why ????.Guys any answers and mechanics who undertake this sort of work would be so appreciated.ive been told by ford enthusiasts they were made but ive never seen one.

The auto was only fitted to diesels of that year...

The bellhousing pattern on the engine is pinto, and I would imagine the flywheel bolt pattern is too - so you should be able to do it with an A4LD from a pinto?

thanks for the reply .its a confusing one this as as my local transit breaker 25 years is certain this model was made with an autobox as does an old timer in the parts dept of the local ford dealer.

The Tourneo was definitely made with an autobox but remember the van is 25 years old now and of the few built most will have been scrapped years ago (probably because the autobox failed ) lookin Holland or ebay nl
