Your biggest problem is going to be getting the drop arm off maybe with a two leg puller if you get one undo the nut and run it to the end of the threads so that the puller doesn’t damage the end of the threads the trouble with getting the arm off is you can’t get behind it to knock it off also if you heat it up you will damage the oil seal in the end of the box .
When we had mk 3 s at work we only removed them to fit a new box so as they were a sod to get off even with a lot of heat it was quicker to cut the arm off and fit a new arm which is ok if the company are paying for it .
If you get a puller before you put it on put plenty of wd40 all over it for a day or two before you try it and get two lump hammers and hit both sides of the arm at the same time as hard as you can it sometimes helps it pull off easier good luck m8

You need a good strong one if possible one with the bracing bar to stop the legs spreading have broken two in the past that’s why at work they started cutting the arms off

It's possible to get the box out with the arm still attached once everything is loosened off.
