Remote centeral locking install

Postby GT VIRUS » Mon Sep 09, 2019 6:24 am

Hi, my Mk5 already has central locking in it, but I would like to make it remote.

I brought a cheap kit from ebay with this wiring diagramhttps://imgur.com/a/CbENgR4, and was hoping I could just splice it into the wiring behind the kick panel.

I was wondering if this was able to be done with the 3 wires that seem to control the lock there, one constantly positive and the other 2 swapping between positive and negative with the doors being locked/unlocked.

Side question: is there any issue with disconnecting the rear door lock from the system so that can only be locked/unlocked with the key?

Hey, I recently installed remote locking to my Mk5 Transit and would be happy to help. I was unable to find the information I needed on the internet but managed to get it working after experimenting with connecting different wires :?

I'll just look for the photos I took of my remote locking install and tell you what wires you need to connect but you are correct as for the three wires you need.

P.S. No you shouldn't have any issues disconnecting the rear door from the system!

So on the wires youll need to splice into on the van side are:

White/Green - On Signal - Connect to White/Black on locking system
White/Blue - Off Signal -Connect to White on locking system
Orange/Purple - +12v - Connect to Yellow on locking system

Thanks for the reply, the wiring you posted didn't work but it put me in the right direction! Turned out the orange and orange/block 12+/- went to the yellow/black wires, and the white and white/black went to the white/blue wire.

Glad you worked it out, just out of curiosity did you splice into the wires inside the door, might be why the colours were different, my orange/black wire becomes orange/purple inside the door.
