1988 county dashboard questions

Postby Luk3jay » Sat Oct 12, 2019 1:24 pm

Hi guys, my transit county has what appears to be a factory fitted tacho dash. I thought it was aftermarket until I noticed the ford stamp on the top left.
It all works as it should, but i would really like to have an rpm dial. It's our possible to swap the dashboard with a 'normal' one? Or did be of this era (pinto engine) not have an rpm indicator?
It looks like the speedo can just unbolt but i don't want to touch anything without getting a bit more info first. I like to know about everything, and I've never seen a dash like this before. It looks like a tacho card goes on behind the speedo but i don't have the key for it.

Thanks in advance! Image

Could you have made the pics any bigger?

Yes its a factory fitted tachograph, and yes you would be able to swap it to a normal speedo - but revcounters wern't available in the mk3 but people have fitted car ones (cortina?) That do have the revcounter

A thin screw driver pushed in the slot will open the tacho..i remember doing that for years in my old cargo, also did it in rentals if they had no keys
