No Glow Plug Light on Dash

Hi can anyone tell me if the glow plug light should come on the dash when starting my 2.5 turbo diesle 1997 VG, im sure this model would have glow plugs any advise please and thankyou to everyone for all the help i have recieved on here

This engine has not glow plugs in engine had, but it has flame start burner (flame plug) in intake manifold. His work is indicated by yellow light on dashboard - same as in vans with glow plugs.

Bearing in mind the op is from Australia and that the flame start is only fitted for very cold climates (even the U.K. didn’t get it standard) I’m fairly sure that there van won’t have it fitted with there much warmer climate and should have no issues starting without any pre heat help.

The flame plug was fitted as an aid for starting at -20 celcius

Usually it works from -5 C deg. Second thing - flame plug works long time after engine start - because of ecology. It reduces the time of cold engine work, during which is bigger injection dose and bigger wrong (incorrect) exhaust emission (same as glow plugs in later diesel engines).

So - maybe in 1997 to snow-free Australia was imported ecological Transits? :lol:
