Installing push start button on mk5

Postby Earthbeing » Sun Jan 12, 2020 2:29 am

Hey, I need some info in how to install a push start button in a mk5 1999. My ignition barrel does not switch back from starter mode automatically mode, hence the push start option. Can I connect the button directly of the ignition switch wires and if so which ones do I need to leave on the ignition switch for the acceserios to work etc. Is it just the starter wire and the 12v that need connecting?
Thanks in advance for any help. Ben.

Just a case of tapping into a "pos 2" ignition live and wiring a button or spring loaded toggle switch in.

Or get a new barrel
