Its been blowing black smoke on excelleration, the residue is sooty, black on the tail pipe. Its recently been serviced and the guy said i was not giving it enough welly, and that its only done 30.000 miles i needed to drive it harder. I have put a fiseal addiditive in it and on my last trip gave it some welly. Was i given the right advice. Any advice would be great

How bad is it? Some black smoke is normal for any older diesel - what does the MOT person say? Might be worth asking if you can have just a smoke test done?

Which injection pump is it?
