Thanks again everyone.

The old engine is definately a gonna from the overheating. I got it back via a tow truck. And it still started and I managed to drive it off the trailer and up the driveway. It sounded horrendous. Like the pistons or something wanted to smash their way out of the engine block.
I would use all the parts (ancilleries) from the old engine to put on the "new".

I looked for the engine code and I found : 8(or9)24F and underneath that 8090-B. Does that mean it is indeed a 4FB.

The plate inside the cab says it is a 4DA, but most likely its been swapped out at some point.

Basically what I really want to know is, will it mount up to the gearbox? Even if it is not exactly the same engine code (i think it is) will this prove to be a problem?

I will attempt it myself, with help, I just wanna make sure I have the an engine that will go in OK without major modifications to the gearbox/drive mounting.

Thanks in advance.

I'm in Belgium at the moment. I've just lost my pilot job, Thanks Covid

But in a way maybe its a blessing. Means I can come home to my girlfriend and finally start our lives together, was 2.5 year long distance relationship.

Plan is now to get the beast up and running over the next two weeks, chuck all my belongings in it and head back to the UK.

Does it look the same engine as yours
What about the cam belt on new engine is that something you can do yourself if u can be easier while the front is off, you might be lucky and get home with it as bought but on the other hand when was that last changed on the replacement engine?
New oil & filter on engine,
antifreeze in system? Fan belt of old engine seeing as you've only just fitted it,
to do things properly needs a cam belt really or your have take all the front off again drain radiator

Most engines are drained of oil before posted so remember that before trying to start
You could fit engine fit rad with just water change oil filter run it up with radiator loosely fitted, (make sure it doesn't hit cooling fan while running) then drain water remove radiator then do the cambelt, someone on her with possibly link you to a how to change cambelt

All 2.5Di engines will fit - including those from a convoy, and turbo units.

You may have to do some swapping of parts between new and old (e.g. fuel filter and pipes/ engine mounts) depending on the variant you get.

If you obtain a turbo engine, it can be run successfully without the engine management but you will have to fiddle with the timing and fuelling settings.

Have you read this post..? A bit off the alternator belt may have caused the timing belt to jump a tooth or two. It wouldn't be a first time
