before I buy a timing belt I was wondering if anyone can confirm the right one. Hopefully someone that has changed theirs and recorded numbers etc.
I have a Ford transit 1997 4EB enginge 2.5L Turbo Diesel and in Australia (don't know if this affects anything). Series 190, Build Date: 25 June 1997, Manufacture Date: April 1997.
I am getting conflicting reports on the correct belt.
I have looked on various sites and believe it is a gates T1600. The hayes manual advises "When ordering a new belt, make sure that the correct belt is obtained. Pre-1992 model year vehicles use a timing belt with a 2.5mm tooth depth. From 1992 onwards, the tooth depth was increased to 3.5mm."
I had the supplier measure the tooth depth and it looks like it is bang on 3mm. the markings on one belt are 5571XS-130x25mm, 057NV 0044 and on the other belt are T885, 129Y27, 39129x27.
There are 2 belts suplied in the kit and I believe that one is a balance shaft belt. Where is the balance shaft belt located?
Thank you for any help you may be able to give.
Tony
PS part numbers of the waterpump, serpentine belt (A/c, power steering water pump) and alternator belt would be appreciated is you have.
