99 for transit Rear Barn Door Adjustments

Postby Shanedorey » Thu Feb 04, 2021 5:27 am

Hi guys does anyone know the best way to adjust rear barn doors on a 99 ford transit. Drivers side rear door will line up at the bottom but is out at the top and the rod won't latch. This is causing significant water to enter when it rains. Thanks

First make sure the latch at the top of the door hasn't gone round into the locked position and jammed.

If you open the passenger side door I know it won't latch but does the driver's side door then line up? If not it sounds like your door is bent.

When did it start doing this? Have you had the door off, or have you bought it like that, or has it happened over time?

It would help to grease the top latch, if the pin and hole are corroded they won't slide.

You should also check the body where the door seal is pulled up to for corrosion. The door seal is likely to be quite stiff (it'll have had it's 21st birthday) making it harder to make a water tight seal, and if the body is starting to blow it'll make it harder for the door to pull up tight. A bit of vaseline or silicone spray on the seal will help.

Then you can go about actually adjusting the door.
