Transit mk5 tail lift fault

Postby Transit190 » Thu Feb 18, 2021 8:29 pm

Hi..
I've a 1997 transit 190 dropside with Ratcliff taillift fitted.
Recently when using the lift, it moves down fine, however when the up switch is pressed, it reaches the top of runners and continues trying to go up. Usually stops after a few seconds, but today would not stop and I had to cut the power feed.

Have checked directional buttons and relevant wiring, no issues that I can see. Paperwork that came with the truck offer no ideas, nor does Google.

Does anyone know?.?

I know zero about tail lifts but that sounds like the up switch is sticking/faulty

Mine does that sometimes when crap gets between the buttons and their shroud.
Otherwise there must be a microswitch somewhere to tell the hydraulic pump to stop pumping.
You'll probably need to take the cover off and have a look.
