Got one

Postby mazzamark » Mon Feb 22, 2021 8:03 pm

Hello, I finally got one. A 1997 swb, it’s perfect underneath and lived in a garage all its life with 80k miles.

It’s starting a small bubble in the front arch and been blown over but I can live with that. I went over it with a magnet and can’t find anything.

My question is what is that long rod that does from the pump to the egr? Thanks

Opens a flap living in the inlet

If you blank the egr you can do away with it.

Great, thank you, so it’s a mechanical egr. Can you tell me which position it’s currently in?

It opens by vacuum generated depending on the position of the butter fly

There's much to be admired about the rugged simplicity of a Smiley, especially a rust free one, and part of me still wishes that I had mine, but I'll never miss the racket of the Di engine :P
