whats the benifit of blanking the egr valve on a 2.5 engine? thanks george

The advantage is that not only will you not have to take care of him, but even think. Due to sediments, EGR can block, it does not close completely, the engine then loses power, jerks, strongly smokes black.
It is vacuum controlled, so you just need to disconnect the vacuum rubber pipe from the EGR and the EGR will be constantly closed.
The disconnected pipe should be closed so that it does not suck "false" air into the inlet. That's it - 10 minutes of work.

Hi! I know it's a long time but I have a question:
Does my 1994 2.5 TD have EGR? where is it located (how to find)

Hey mate I have a 1996 vg 2.5 turbo diesel the EGR valve is here in the picture.
Up the back next to the firewall. Attached to the piping to cool the exhaust before it joins the flow from the turbo.
I removed the whole lot to get to the EGR. Easier.
If you wanna blank off the exhaust do it at the bottom of the pipe coming from the exhaust manifold to the EGR valve

Hi mine is 1996 vg 2.5 TDI the EGR is up the back near the firewall in the pic. I removed the exhaust pipe it's attached to to get to it
