Did you re-do the valve clearances? With a different head gasket on they will have changed

For some reason the timing was slightly off.. I managed to start the engine now.. Still sounds a bit off though..

Looking at the pins : the crankshaft and the camshaft go in..

The alignment hole for the pump is maybe a mm to the right.. Very little, just enough so the pin would not go in..

Can this be adjusted still? Or belt off again?I don't know how many times I can loosen/tighten the timingbelt.. .

Thanks for your help...Almost there i guess

Don't take the cambelt off, just slacken the 4 bolts on the front of the pump and rotate the centre nut to rotate the shaft of the pump.

Make it rotate it as far as you can with the pin in so there is tiny bit of advance over the standard setting and it should start much better

Thank you minor matt..

Valve clearance was done.

And I look at the pump now and see if we can move it.

It must start and run then, no sensors here :-)

Cheers

I don't know what went wrong with the timing.

I did camshaft and flywheel again, the camshaft was off.

It starts immediately, no smoking and it doesn't sound rough really

But still I do think it sounds a bit different then before.
Maybe just my ears.. Im not an expert on timing, but it was off before and didn't even start, so I figure I can't be off too much..

My biggest fear is the timing belt, I don't really understand or trust these tighteners..

But let's see, it's idling around outside now and maybe later I take her for a spin. And hope all stays in place

Cheers for all your help

OK after tweaking the pump a little again, it seems OK now.

Acceleration is good, no smoke, and starts so quickly that I can hardly let go of the key in time.

I still think it sounds a bit different then before, but maybe that's because of the fresh oil or something.

Anyway, hope all is good now... Thanks to you all
