MK5 DOHC troubles, considering swap to Diesel

Postby JimmyWitters » Sat Apr 10, 2021 11:37 pm

Hi there

I have a MK5 2.0L petrol DOHC engine which has developed a lot of knocking and tapping noises. I removed the auxiliary belt and ran the engine briefly and still making a multitude of noises so suspect it is a big job to fix.

Someone is selling a diesel transit which had an accident in the rear for $1500, has new alternator, diesel pump redo and is running well.

Do you think it’s a good idea to drop in the Diesel engine and all components?

What issues will I run into?

Also seperate question, does the auxiliary belt need to be lined up like a timing belt or no as it is just running accessories?

Cheers, Jimmy
