Mk5 heater position problems

Postby Ransettimies » Fri Apr 30, 2021 6:00 pm

Hello

I have 1995 transit without a/c. Problems are that first temp switch and vent/defrost/floor switches are very stucked and harsh. I looked cable at bottom of heater box and there is bend at position cable and heater cable is just tight.

It blows cold air allways at center vents, side vents give usually cold air but sometimes little bit warm. Defrost at window gives warm air.

Is there how many flaps inside heater box? Or just heater flap and positions

the problem is probably on the back of the heater controls. the knobs for heat level and output position run toothed sliders which need lubricating in their runners as dust clogs them up.

Okay thanks! And it needs some dash removal to get backside?

Is there only flap for heater and fresh air? I removed cable at heater box side and manually adjusted positions. Vents give still cooler air than window/floor vents.

Also vents blow pretty much air at highway speeds even fan is shutted off, is that normal?
