Early Bosch pump and injector

Postby TwoStrokeSmoke » Mon May 17, 2021 4:14 am

Hi all,

During reading the Haynes Manual, I've found that between 1985 and 1989, Transit 2.5 Dis weren't equipped with the expensive and non-repairable Stanadyne 5-hole pencil injectors but with a Bosch / Lucas cheaper and repairable 4-hole injector. My Bosch VE pump died a few days ago anyways.

My question is:
1. Where can I find a list that shows which exact model year had which exact fuel pump type?
2. Can a Bosch VE pump (for example, a 0 460 414 052 or a 0 460 414 145) work with both the later Stanadyne thin pencil and the earlier thicker Bosch injector, too? Or each injector type needs an exact matching pump type?

The earlier 4-hole injectors would need a cylinder head swap as far as I know but it wouldn't be a problem, my friend has one for sale and I can do the job myself.

Now my van is not working at all but I'd really need it, please help!

There isn't a list of what pump by year as far as I'm aware but any Bosch ve pump from a 2.5 di should do the job, but depending what hp engine it came from it may need the fueling adjusting.
