Postby Mattyone » Thu Jun 17, 2021 7:51 pm

I have a 2.5 di engine in my boat and this is the alternator fitted but as no markings on it, as far as I know its 70 amp, can anyone tell me what make it would be please

It could just be a generic refurbished replacement, I think there were several makes which could be fitted.

Try a PM to MinorMatt if he doesn't read this, he will know more, and may have a replacement if needed :)

As this is fitted to a Di, is the difference just the vac pump Matt :?:

The difference is that its in a boat... boats don't tend to need a vacuum source for brakes :) other than that shaft they are the same

Yes I get that

I was asking if the alternator was physically different, as in 'it won't fit', or whether a Di one could be fitted, and not use the vac pump :?:

A Di one will fit, you will just get a rotating shaft on the back - which isn't conducive to happy Health and Safety police
