Lolz........
Not enough wind to produce electric and......

Coal fired power station had to be re commissioned recently to make up for the short fall.

Hmmm once we rely on electric 100% its all going to turn into poo.

Yes it’s true we’ll have to see what happens this winter with the power line from France that’s gone down we may have power cuts solar power will not be very efficient over winter and as you say relying on wind power is not a guarantee thing .We all know we need to do something cut down greenhouse gases but you can’t just snap your fingers and change straight away it’s going to take time .

"Green vehicles" Just to put into perspective. .
2020-12-09 21.57.40.png
. 3/4 of USAs energy consumption is fossil fuel. Out of all of that energy a tiny part is delivered via electricity through wires and not all the energy consumed makes it to the electric wheels on the road.

Meanwhile gadgets added to engines just change emissions from one type to another. Catalyzers and egr valves increase CO2 and do less MPG. If you want reduce emissions just drive 10 mph slower.

A bit like phone chargers, samsung/apple/LG/ etc put a message on the screen saying "charged, unplug and save the planet" is a warm green feeling at corporate level for them (which people loyal to the brand can participate in), but there's thousands times more enegy escaping through hot water pipe lagging or hot water tank jacket.

In a way a egr blanking off plate is just another phone charger left plugged in the big picture.

Well I just have the outlook that every little helps...! Sure your personal emmissions have no impact on the enviroment, but the emissions of 50mil people in the uk definitley does (sure china is still worse but uk still has massive emissions just from cars alone). So if everyone in the 50 million has the attitude that they personally don't matter then you can see the big problem with that line of thinking. We can't do much about corporate level emissions (aside choosing more carefully the brands where you spend your money) but we can at least do our part. Enviroment is no joke we don't want to be living on a fireball in 30 years :)

Running an Mk4 into the groud is not unenviromental, keeping old cars going means your not causing new cars to be produced. The enviromental impact of building a new car from scratch is huge.

Thanks for the help anyways, didn't mean to stir the pot just want to fix my van haha.

From what was on tv news last week uk emissions is 1% of the world’s output so no matter how much we do it’s a drop in a very big ocean all the m25 protesters want to go to China and see how far they get it will not be as easy as here

Hi guys.
To begin with, a serviceable EGR valve does not affect the car's carbon footprint.
From the word "absolutely".
Mixing part of the exhaust gases into the air is necessary to lower the flame temperature during fuel combustion in the combustion chamber of a diesel engine - to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. When the combustion temperature decreases, the combustion conditions of the fuel carbon deteriorate and carbon escapes from the exhaust pipe in the form of soot, pure carbon. Which is not a gift. but is not a greenhouse agent.
The largest greenhouse gas is water vapor, which enters the atmosphere from the surface of water bodies, and if we consider that water covers 3/4 of the Earth's surface, then fighting "global warming" is like urinating against a strong wind.
A faulty EGR valve supplies too much exhaust gases into the engine combustion chamber, therefore the engine smokes black smoke, emitting soot-pure carbon into the atmosphere, the engine does not develop power due to lack of oxygen and therefore drivers press the gas pedal harder, feeding into the combustion chamber excess fuel, which flies out in the form of soot and the product of incomplete combustion of carbon monoxide CO, carbon monoxide.
The EGR valve is an unambiguous EVIL!
Ford Transit motors until 2007 allow the EGR valve to be muffled absolutely without any problems.
My son had a 2000 Transit with a Lucas EPIK pump and turned off the EGR valve immediately after buying a car.
This only improved the performance of the motor!
I looked at the characteristics of Ford Transit engines after 2000 to 2007.
There are options without a USR valve at all.
Motras without a EGR valve develop maximum torque at lower speeds than with a valve.
Shut off valve!

What happens if....
You do water induction on an older transit and use add blue instead of distilled water in the "bubbler"?

Does it reduce anything apart from your bank bank balance.
