Theres no lateral play in the bushes, so they are not worn - just the vertical play. The bottom section takes the vertical thrust, so shimming the top is only taking that play up -there is no thrust on it - unless the wheel is hanging in the air! I remember taking out king pins on a LDV 250 minibus, it took 12 hours with a 14lb sledge hammer, so I'd rather not have to remove the king pins just for taking up some slack. I'm sure I read on the forum that someone had a diagram of the C shape shim with tabs, but cannt now find it.
