Will a MK6/7 Seat Base Fit in a Mk5?

Postby spinningfish » Sun Jan 02, 2022 10:14 am

Hello all

Sorry if this has been answered before - I've searched but haven't found a definitive answer.

Will a MK6/7 front seat base bolt directly into the pre-existing hole on a MK5?

Many thanks!

The mk 6&7 seatbox has different bigger diameter mounting bolts to a mk 5 and it will also depend on the strengthening ribs on the floor as to if it will sit level on the floor .I’ve in the passed fitted different seats into transits by making my own or modifying what I had .

Thanks Dumper

It was to replace my double seat with a single, so I’ll try and source another Mk5 single base.

Cheers!

What I used to do was make a angle iron frame up and mount the seat on that and bolt a seat on top .If you could get hold of a cheap seat box it may be possible to see if you could make up some spacers to level it up if it will not sit level and position it so you could bolt it to the floor and use 10 mil spreader plates underneath with it been for the passenger it doesn’t have to be as a accurate position as a drivers seat I would have thought you could get a seat box from a breaker’s for not a lot of money.
