Gasket help urgent

Postby meerkatmag » Sat May 14, 2022 12:35 pm

Hi, I'm fitting new sump gasket. The one I ordered is cork with a layer or ferolite nam 49 on one side. I can't tell which way it should go up and if the green layer is something I should peel off or leave it? Seems very smooth and not likely to seal. Pic attached

By the way, I didn't order this on purpose. The one I ordered had picture showing a normal rubber one, but this cork thing came in the post. If anyone knows how you're supposed to fit this let me know.

This might give you some clues?

I've read everything on Google, nothing says how you're supposed to use the stuff.

I've fitted it now, green layer up. Going to drive it today and see if it leaks

In case any one else find this in future, I fitted the gasket green layer up without peeling any if it off. Used hylomar blue on both side. It appears to be nicely sealed, just went on a run and got it to temperature and no leaks so far.
