Postby Motor home man » Mon Jun 06, 2022 7:06 pm

Hi
Is a Lucas ecu 02010020 DOWLA. 98VB-9J464-ZE the same as a 98VB-9J464-ZC.If not I’m looking for the later of the two. I’ve been told they can’t be repaired. Can any advise or help please.

Its not quite that simple...

The parts are interchangeable, but are programmed to suit the vehicle - and the PATs.

When they were programmed 2 or 3 letters should have been hand written on the back and they tell you the spec.

An ECU (unless non PATS) without the matching PATS module is scrap.

Whats wrong and what are you trying to achieve?

I have an immobiliser fault, pats code 32, the auto electrician told me , he could not get a reading from the ECU. So need to change the ECU unit.

Well a faulty ECU is a possible cause of code 32.... but of the 100s I have fixed with this issue I have only seen a blown ECU twice (one was mine!).

Have a look at my facebook video, check that relay and fuse and if that doesn't work then look at the ECU.

If you need a new ECU, you either need a matched set of ECU, PATS module and Keys, or a non PATS module and do a little simple wiring. I should be able to sort either option if its what you need, and I have some relays available too.

The relay is called the power hold relay - and all power to the ECU goes through it, and the fuse next too it. If either are faulty the ECU won't get power and will appear to PATS and diagnostics to be faulty.

Hope that makes sense?
