Spare wheel problems

Postby Dagenhamboy » Tue Jun 28, 2022 9:16 pm

Hi my first post so be gentle guys, I have 1998 Mk 5 transit van i need to remove the spare wheel now when brought the van years ago it came with jack and winding handle but there is no spare tyre removal tool . So brought a Mk5 spare tyre handle tool but soon as i saw it i knew it was wrong as i been under the van and very end of this goes into is like a bolt type so the end of the tool needed to be open is this correct .Failing trying to get hold of this said tool is there any other way to remove the wheel as in the future i shall put inside the van not underneath.

A lot of spare wheels are stolen by cutting the cable you could possibly do that but that tool is the same as y mk 5 had

The mk5 tool has an octagonal recess in the square drive end. I can't see whether you have it on that one or not?

Think I hammered a 19/32 af socket on mine and use a 1/2" ratchet to operate it now
