yup engine and g/box together is much easier, especially for refitting instead of trying to line up the engine and box and damaging the input shaft!

A trolley jack to take the weight of the g/box to remove its mounting.

If all the bolts behave and come undone ok then its a reasonably easy job.

Yes agree with v184 and Chug best way I still have the genuine Ford lifting eye set the rear is a eye bolt that screws into the rear of the cylinder head and the front is a 10 ml thick plate that bolts onto the front of the head where are the header tank mounts too if you can make one for the front and get a eye bolt of the correct thread it helps getting the engine in a good position to remove and refit .

love the description, but is there a picture version, or a detailed step by step for noobs

I assume you
1. Remove hood
2. Remove front members.lights?
Disconnect hoses to radiator and remove radiator after draining and saving it for later.
Then whats next..remove gearbox, diif bolts, rhe plastic around gear box, then somehow bolts securing gbox to engine, heard its4?

The lifting bracket we had you had to take number 4 injector out and the front where the air cleaner front bolt on the 86 type went, that attached to a u shape which had 2 positions (with/without gearbox) great bit of kit , bonnet off but not headlamps out
