Fuel line

Postby guzzi » Mon Sep 26, 2022 10:13 pm

Hallo @ all

We own a 1993 Laika motorhome Twin Wheel Axle Transit with 73Kw and i,m using the third lucas Fuel injection pump.
After the last pump chance i twisted the press fuel line on the Fuel injection pump as loosen the line.
After 1 turn i could loosen the line and after refitting it on the new pump it turned back and looked ok.

I didn't had problems for the next 20k miles.
A couple of weeks ago i had starting problems after a short break i wanted to start the engine but it wouldn't start, i tried it again and it started but
the engine light stayed on, i drove a few miles an as expected not faster as 40 mph, restarted again and everything was ok.
On the camp ground in Luxembourg i changed the Fuel injection pump. first ok but after 2 days same problem so the pump was not the problem.
There was a strong fuel smell so something was leaking, I think the twisted press fuel line on the pump is the problem.
Back home i asked the local Ford dealer if the could order the fuel line. He couldn't find the part and now i have a problem.
I have to make me a new fuel line, the plastic 8mm hose, the rubber rings and the bushing at he end wasn't a problem but the rubber ring holder is.
Does anyone knows if i can reuse this rubber ring holder or where i can order a new (or used) press fuel line from the fuel filter to the pump?

Any help, advice or suggestions gratefully received from anyone.
Thanks

When you say Lucas pipe, do you mean the lucas epic? The one with a large number of wires (19 iirc) going to a multi plug on the back?

Yes the DSA1096 with 19 pins connector.
I'm looking for the fuel line from the fuel filter to the lucas epic pump.

If Matt hasn't got one I did have one from when I removed an epic pump and can have a look to see if I can locate it.

I'm sure I will be able to find a good used fuel pipe from filter to pump.
