Scheduled parts replacement

Postby Piver23 » Sat Nov 26, 2022 10:10 am

Hi everybody,
I’m the happy owner of a Transit 91 2.5D campervan. I was wondering if there is a parts replacement program or any other special maintenance to do apart from the standard oil/filters replacement

Keep your eye on the tyres and brake pads/discs, and if you don't know when the timing belt was last replaced, do it now 8)

These are fairly reliable and robust machines, compared to the modern stuff :D

Used to change my timeing belt at no more then 35000 mls bit early but allways did it when I got a new to me van along with the water pump .oil and filter every 6000 mls and fuel every 12000 mil air filter new then checked every 6000 mls replaced if needed for me with use on dusty Forrest roads every 6000 mls fan belt checked every time i open the bonnet to check the oil and water and I used to check the tappits every 12000 mls.also maybe worth cleaning out the inlet manifold and blanking off egr on mine I removed the vac pipe and cable tied the butterfly open and removed the actuation rod off it
Engine wise the only problem I had was the injector leak off pipe perished on one of the ones I had and a lift pump leaking oil out the telltale hole .

Front ball joints if you have the independent front end. Change mine every couple of years regardless of mileage
