New member plus mk5 transit problem

Postby Cozy2 » Wed Dec 07, 2022 11:36 pm

Hi everyone im cozy2 thanks for allowing to join .I have a mk5 transit which I converted into a motorcaravan owned now for 4 years living in it fulltime working on the Rd. I have refitted New propshaft New brakes New wheel bearings New inner outer sills no expense stared to keep on rd using origanal parts . But come across a problem was going down motoway 5 month over 7 month ago and the engine comely cut out so was towed to location so I could fix was told it was my fuel stop solenoid but couldn't get one so checked online and it turned out to be the imobiliser as the code above on roof was giving the code as engine wouldn't turn over nothing so got it going by bypassing the wire from fuel solonoid to battery worked but then alternator went so changed this New one charging but now 7 month down the Rd it's not charging but when breakdown came out they tested and everything OK but driving on a night time 3 week ago I lost all power and I'm baffled to what it could be as it turns over but won't start put new battery in to please help thanks

Yea fuel getting through will start but when driving the battery going dead sometimes it charges as had new alternator new starter but since imoboliser stuck on and bypassed this it's started doing this I'm no expert and maybe a easy fix other wise engine is great when running thanks for reply

It might be worth fitting a voltmeter so you can keep an eye on what the alternator is putting out as you drive.

A potential fault is the ignition switch. When you lose battery power you lose juice to the fuel solenoid and headlights, but does it also lose power to things like the side lights and accessory socket? If not then the ignition switch may be the cause.

Just because it is a new alternator does not mean it is not faulty
