leaking mark 3 bendix power steering pump

Hello, i have searched the internet all over for info on the bendix power steering pump for a 1990 transit. i have a leak from the pump when the engine runs from the part in the photo that i have highlighted. before i pull it apart, is it safe to do so (in that there wont be a load of sprung loaded pieces that are impossible to get back in) and is it an easy fix?

ok... i am a plonker. That wasn't the steering pump, it was the bendix steering rack. No wonder i couldn't find any info on it. Anyways, i looked at the leak again and the diagram in my haynes manual and it is the adjuster rod that is leaking and looks to have no seal around it according to the diagram, so i fitted an o ring, copper washer and some 3 bond gasket sealant under the lock nut and so far she doesn't leak....
