Fuel line replacement

Postby caercamper » Fri Jun 23, 2023 12:12 pm

Hi there

What size fuel line is a proper replacement for the low pressure fuel lines on a 2.5TD? The quick clip on the fuel pump end has broken on the line between the fuel lift pump and the filter - doesn't seem the pipe is available off the shelf anymore so need to make one up.

Presumably jubilee clip fine on the pump end and then something along this line on the fuel filter end (don't know if they all do but mine looks like it's a threaded fitting with a nut): https://www.flexolite.co.uk/products/fp ... -nptf-5-16

Anything else I need to know before making up a new line?

Thanks in advance

When I had problems on my mk5 I used similar fittings and flexible fuel pipe and o clips instead of the hard formed plastic original pipe.

Cheers for the advice all - what I did in the end was fit a M14 to 8mm barb fixing, which I then ran flexible rubber line down to the fuel pickup pump, all held in with hose clips. Got the part from Darwin but it didn’t come with a washer so had to get a copper/rubber washer too as it wept very slightly without. All seems good now
