What is the difference between these two plungers for EPIC pump?

The second one is a kit, but I had to use my old spring because with the one included the engine didn't even start.
My original plunger is more similar to the first one and changing to the second one only solved my issue partly so I wonder if it's worth it to try the first one too.

The kit has a plunger from a mk4 (DSA947) pump. Its a smaller diameter and won't work correctly in the mk5 pumps
