1997 Smiley 5th gear noisy

Our 1997 Autosleeper based camper on LWB Mk5 Smiley has just completed an epic 4500 mile trip around Europe. It seems however that either the Swiss mountains and/or German autobahns were a bit too much for 5th gear as it has developed a nasty whine. All other gears fine. Just clocked over 80,000 miles. Need to get the old girl repaired. Can anyone recommend someone could fix please…either rebuild or replace box? Thanks Simon

You've checked the oil?
I suppose it might be too late now anyway.

Gearbox oil changed in May of this year as part of major service. Only 5th gear that’s noisy. Hoping box could be rebuilt with taller goth gear anyway to reduce engine revs. Runs 30000 at 60mph. Would be great to reduce by 200 or 300

Should be 5th gear not Goth gear!
