Diesel Filter Change

Hi everyone, I am going to service my 1997 2.5 Diesel. Do you have to prime the new fuel filter before fitting it or will it self prime when turning the engine over?

Fill the new filter as full as you can I keep tapping it to get air out of it then make sure you have pushed it up square and all the way up I have had a problem with this once and had to remove the filter head and push the head down onto the filter to seal it when fitted start the engine on half throttle and run it for two minutes and it should clear any air .I always do the filter before I do a oil change not at the same time so not to start the van with the oil filter empty of oil .

I usually just fill the new filter prior to fitting and start engine,keep the revs up and it'll clear the little bit of air itself
