Hello!
I have a 1994 transit. About a year ago the fuel pump failed and i sent it to specialist to check if it could be fixed. I got an answer that there are not spare parts and if there were it would cost a fortune to fix that pump. So i searched for a new used one and found it. The problem is it is not identical to the older pump. The pump i had on before was 0460414108 and the one i have now is 0460414145. ...108 pump had some kind of solenoid fitted outside of the pump with 1 wire going into but the ...145 has a solenoid behind the pump under metal cover with 3 pin wires and connector. I fitted the new pump and assembled the timing and stuff, filled the pump with fuel using handliftpump so it would not run dry, loosened the nuts on the injectors and cranked the engine to make sure the fuel gets to the injectors and it did. So i tightened the feedline nuts and tried to start it but no luck. So i used motor start spray and it would not start up either. Searched forums and found out that the pump timing could be wrong. Adjusted timing of the pump, cranked engine without start spray and no joy, but if i use the spray it would fire up as long as i feed the spray into the intake, once i stop the engine shuts off. Checked the fuel backflow from the injectors and the hoses are dry (not enough fuel pressure i think?). So i thought it has to be something related to that solenoid. Is there any chance to bypass that solenoid somehow? I do not have the old pump anymore because the specialist did not send it back and it has been a year so i am pretty sure he does not have it.

And this is the old pump (..108) and there is that solenoid fitted outside of the pump.
