Just failed MOT for too much play! Was fine last MOT - 2,500 miles ago.

I don’t have either the tools (reamer etc.) or experience to do it. Need an old hand pro with a decent garage, ideally reasonably local.
Any suggestions please?

When I did have to have them changed, it was always a massive problem getting anyone with the tools to do it

Done em on a MK2 and a MK3 many years ago.
One person heating with a torch and another bashing away.
Was it "play" or "lift" they got you on?
dumper wrote:What did they actually fail it on was it lift or rock when I was presenting hgvs for test on some models if you removed the bushes in the stub axle they would still be within the limits to pass the test they used to fail easier on kingpin lift.there are different limits for kingpin’s based on wheel diameter.they may have failed it on just feel and not on the limit in the tester’s manual.
if it was mine I would show me on what limits they have failed it on.

I can remember taking my old Sherpa to 4 different testing stations to find a tester who knew what kingpins were, and understood that they all have a bit of play
