mk4 smiley transit horn not working

Postby cuky » Sat Oct 21, 2023 2:00 pm

Horn has stopped working.
20AMP fuse , which is also indicators fine.
battery tested the horn: it works when tested direct from battery
indicators all work fine.

Does anyone know any thing I can test next. How would I test the switch itself and would recommend where to get replacement.
I have seen then on web for about £20.
Dont want to buy a replacement switch unless I can confirm that is the issue.

All other electrics are fine

Use a multimeter to test voltage is getting to the horn when stalk is pressed.
If not it's either wiring or stalk.

Many thanks for tip. didnt need a new switch.
bad wiring connection was the issue.

multimeter testing to just red/yellow worked fine. so just removed the extra custom wiring bits the previous owners had done , additional wiring adding to red/yellow line. this custom section no current.

As it was once an ambulance, i assume this extra wiring was to hook the horn into the siren relays, which I removed recently. about the time horn stopped working i bet.

sorted! thanks
