Timing belt 28mm vs 25mm

Took the timing belt off today and the timing belt is 25mm across, the one I’ve had in garage for 12 months is 28mm, fits the camshaft and injection pump ok fine but bit tight on the crankshaft pulley, so ordered 25mm one from UK, here in NZ £155 or $300 so give the one here a miss, anyone fitted the 28mm to the 25mm system, can I us the later type tensioner that only uses one bolt rather then the early two bolt one. 1997 2.5di non turbo, Cheers
