How to identify Bosch 145 / 146 pump?

Postby Sirius » Wed Aug 21, 2024 2:09 pm

Hi, iv searched the forum but cant find an answer. Im searching for a replacement pump. Im taking the epic off my 2.5td. I understand that i need a Bosch 145 / 146. I think I understand that only the Bosch 145 / 146 where fitted to all non turbo mk5 transits?

Below is a picture of the pump from my 2nd transit. The numbers on the top appear to read 1 465 538 682 and the numbers on the side appear to be 0 460 414 141.

I found a pump for sale listed as BOSCH VE 0 460 414 218 (on the top of the pump the numbers are 1 465 530 662).

So, im guessing that neither of these pumps are suitable replacements? As it looks like i have a Bosch 141 pump on my 2nd Mk5 and a Bosch 218 is for sale?

Many thanks!! :)

Someone more knowledgeable than me will hopefully confirm, but I think that any Bosch pump from a Mk5 will do the job you want :)

You would need to put in a lift pump and change the injectos to post 97 70ps ones

So I’m wondering if my 141 (from my 1999 non turbo engine) or the 218 (for sale) may fit my 2.5td in place of my lucas epic if i add the lift pump and keep my injectors. And keep my original 2.5td pulley and fit replacement accelerator pedal and cable.

I was about to take the pumps off both transits today and saw this one for sale.. and now my head is spinning!

any will fit and work, its just the 146 or 146 has the best "map"

Get an injection pump from a '97 onwards

So I’m thinking, if this 218 pump for sale is from a ‘97 onwards, then i should probably get it. As i dont want to break my second transit just yet
