Fuel leek from bolt in photo - Bosch Pump

Postby donnellyTransit » Thu Sep 05, 2024 4:08 pm

Hi
My brother bought a Ford transit Camper van recently with a 2.5 diesel non turbo banana engine. He says there has been a very strong smell of diesel in the van when he's driving.
When he tried to find the cause of the smell he noticed Diesel dripping from the centre nut in the photo attached. The one with the 2 torx screws on either side.
I've been trying to find out what that plate is for and whats behind it. Is there anyone out there that knows if it's a washer or gasket that might need changing. Or has any advice.
Thanks .

Just a little update, It's a Mark 5 1997 2.5l D 76hp naturally aspirated. My brother who has the car is living in the town of Cobh, just outside of Cork in Ireland.
He has tried a lot of garages but unless you can plug the car into a computer they don't want to look at it. So if anyone knows any good Transit people in the south of Ireland please let me know.

Hi Thanks for your reply, Do you know what that plate and screw is for and what's behind it ? My brother has been talking with a garage up in Cavan ( That's a long way from Cobh) that deals with diesel engines and they asked him to take a photo of whats behind the plate before they'll look at it. he's a bit nervous about taking it off when we don't know whats behind it. Any ideas ?

Undo 2 Torx bolts, remove O ring, install new O ring, tighten Torx bolts.

Nothing will fall out - but you can put a tub underneath to catch anything if you are worried?
