Another year

Postby stalwart » Sun Oct 20, 2024 1:06 pm

Haven't been here for ages,so thought i'd pop in to say that on friday gone, she went through the MOT with just 3 advisories ,oil leak(sump gasket),spot of rust outer sill, and hole in exhaust.
Happy, sure, but getting tired of the old girl now,and coming up for 62yo,getting that "i CBA" attitude  Folk say may as well keep it,esp with the pile of 5hit thats out there today,i've got 2nd thoughts, hummmmmm.
Oh,its a 1999 Mk5 80 semi

I'm the same as you 62 in December and a couple of years ago this Feb my mk4 truck needed a lot of work for the MOT, and I didn't have the time or energy to do it, so first I got a few quotes all £700 plus, then I went and looked at a few vans around £3000, two Mk6 and four Mk7 all were as bad as mine if not worse, in the end I spent three days on my back under the truck welding (would have been half that time a couple of years ago when I was fitter) and another day or so doing mechanics to get the MOT, so glad I did, new transits are just as bad if not worse. Good luck in whatever you decide to do
