Fitting anti roll bars to old transit

My van handles like a boat due to the large motorhome body. I've been thinking about fitting anti roll bars to help with this. As far as I know this model (1988 mk3 transit 190) never came with them.

Anyone done this? Is it possible to retrofit and if so will mk6 anti roll bars be the right size?

Yours is a beam font axel mk 6 is independent so different set up altogether if you could find a 190 or they were classed as a A4006 A series we had 2 at work with tipper bodies they had anti roll bars to fit them if you could find any you would have to weld brackets on the rear axle and the body at back and front from memory they look like they had the same front and rear axle as a standard twin wheel Transit so the bar should bolt straight on to the front axle another possibility is a mark three ambulance they had anti-roll bars I think and maybe a minibus

I have gone from a mk3 single wheel motorhome to a dual wheel mk5 190 and the mk5 handles very well even though the suspension is stuffed. You may need to update your springs all round as being 90% loaded 100% of the time ruins them

I have fitted Monroe Air assist shocks to mine, I just increase the pressure to control body roll & no modifcations are needed as they just replace the existing shocks.

I've got dual rear wheels and leafs all round. I had new front leafs fitted a couple years ago and it holds height well now but doesn't stop it leaning.

I did have air shocks and it was way better but the mot garage refused to pass it with them. Long story but in the end I got rid.

Is yours a proper transit mk3 kit or did you adapt it? It was my adaptations that the mot guy didn't like.

I do have custom leafs at the front with 3x leafs. It's not the support that's the issue it's the roll. It's about as stiff as I could take with 3 leafs so I'm thinking the antiroll bar is the solution wouldn't you say? I think my van has way higher center of gravity than most transits

Never seen triple front springs, always used to add a leaf to the rear with excellent results

I purchased new droplinks and rubbers for the front fairly recently, so they should be available.

The bar and brackets you will need to look for those advertising breaking a mk3. This would be the prefered option as already designed for the mk3 suspension

As far as I was aware all LWB mk3 had at least a front ARB, and most dual wheel chassis cabs had rears too.

Thanks, I've asked about that one. I'll need to figure out the brackets but that seems doable. Mine definitely doesn't have front or rear ARBs, not sure why.
