Anyway as you can guess from the title I need some help, 2.5di driving normal, going up a hill in busy traffic and van was slowing more than I thought it should near the top, but I put it down to it maybe being steeper than it looked anyway just over the top the hill and the engine starts sounding louder, I look in the mirror and see more smoke than there should be
I thought it can only be water so I checked the coolant reservoir and it was empty, phone a friend time! got towed back just before dark and drained the sump of lots of water and oil, put some oil back in but no water and tried to start, fired up ok, oil light went out and didn't sound too bad but hard to really tell as the air cleaner was off and making a loud noise, but I gave the throttle a gentle quick stab and she seemed to rev up ok but then I had to switch off coz my mate said oil was coming out under the van. Then both torches ran out of battery and both our phones were getting low as well so we gave up for today.
But I have coolant getting into the oil and an oil leak somewhere (think lower left side of engine) , I've not been near the inside of a 2.5di transit engine for a good few years and my memory aint what it was, SO other than the head gasket, is there any core plug or anything that could let coolant into the oil, and what other than oil filter or oil pressure switch could cause oil leak lower left hand side of engine?
I can't think of anything myself, and now my head hurts.
