Where is it?

I recently lost power to the instrument panel etc. (whilst travelling in Spain)!
Bodged a wire from the battery to the 6mm red wire on the ignition switch and all came to life.
We drove around for a month with a wire through the door and into the bonnet but now need to fix.
I have 12v at the switch but any load and it dies so obviously a dodgy connection.
Following this back from the switch to behind the fuse box it then disappears but I have found where it connects to the battery and that connection is good so somewhere in-between I probably have a corroded connection which is causing the resistance to increase.
Problem is where is this connection?
This is from the Haynes manual wiring diagram - so red from 508 to 30 on the switch.
Where is 508 and hopefully I don't have to dismantle too much to get to it!?

Having to run a car with a makeshift wire through the door for a month is not a pleasant experience. Based on your description, it is likely that there is an oxidized or loose connection between the fuse box and the ignition switch. You can try checking the hidden terminals behind the fuse box or along the path of the red wire from the 508. If possible, measure the voltage drop between the wires to determine the high resistance point. Hopefully you don’t have to do too much disassembly to find the problem!

Yes - a bit of a pain but worked out okay. Made for some interesting looks.
Wasn't fun when we got to start to leave the campsite though and no power!!

It (thankfully) doesn't go into the fuse box but I have dismantled the wiring loom and followed it and it appears to all join up on the starter motor which is a bit weird. From there loops back to the other bits (starter relay etc.).

I think I have sorted it now and the loom is now back together with new strapping.
