Got a 1997 mk5 2.5 68ps
Had it 3 years last october came back to depot running rough and would not start cold without easy start once it started it would run ok.
Allways seeviced regualry and timing belt was replaced 2 years ago
Was low pressure at 1 or 2 at injectors so suspected new pump. Got diesel bob to rebuild it and I also replaced fuel filter and full service, new timing belt and Now it runs better at idle not bigmisfire but its SO SLOW NOW
The garage said fuel pump has been turned up but anymore and it starts to bog. There is zero black smoke and I know its the slowest engine they do the 68 but it must have 40 bhp
It will do 50 max on the flat in 4th gear but ANY incline on a main road and its down to 40/45
Steep hill is 20
If you rev it stationary blue smoke comes out but on a run it doesent ? If you give it rev it wont do it but holding the revs stationary will, it was serviced but with 10w 40 not 15w40 what we usually put in all the vans as they only operate in summer.
Ive had a go with adjusted the fueling pump and it doesent really make a huge difference at all its 2 turns away from max fueling end
It doesent use any oil or coolant really either
It must either be-
Tappets need asjusted (never been done)
Injectors need replaced ?? Blocked? I can fit bigger ones that a 68ps
Timing incorrect?
OR
The engine is gone
We do have a spare engine but engine did run fine late last year just expected to put the pump on and it would be fine but its just soooooo slow dangerous slow
Any ideas?
Ive also took oil cap off running and backpressure is very low just a normal mk5 same as others we have
