Transit 1998, 2,5 TD, high-pressure pump 8720B050A

Hello everyone

I'm hoping for some collective wisdom.
The above Transit needs a solution for its high-pressure pump:
Pump type 8720B050A
S# 05745FRG
Lucas EPIC DSA1190

Problems:
Cam ring has chips
Case pressure valve defective

1. Repair the old pump
2. Purchase a new/used pump
3. Replace the pump with a mechanical pump (supposedly available)

Can anyone help me?

I think you will be lucky if you can find somewhere that repairs the pump, I very much doubt you will find a new one, and a used one is a gamble, so maybe a Bosch VE mechanical pump would be best.

DSA1096, DSA1190 and DSA1191 are interchangeable. Any others arnt

DSA947 is mk4 only

DSA1284 is 115PS TDI only
