Gearbox notchy

Hi everyone, haven't been on for a few years,not had a Mk5 for a long time,anyway ,buying one tomorrow sreg,1999.nice camper van,12months MOT,good to go.one issue,the fella tells me slightly notchy in 2nd gear for 5 mins,then after that,it's perfect,changes as it should,is this anything to worry about? Seem to remember one of my old ones doing a similar thing,he said maybe needs grease on the splines,does this ring true? He's owned it for over 20 years,58 thousand on the clock,any advice, appreciated as usual,thanks.
