Universal 5416 Diesel Engine Bleed Fuel System

Postby PatriciaMFenner » Fri Jun 13, 2025 10:19 am

Hello everyone,

I just changed the fuel filter on my diesel engine. I changed the primary and secondary fuel filters, but when I followed the bleed instructions in the manual, I don't see fuel coming out of the bleed valve of the primary filter after running the pump for a few minutes.

Is this normal and why isn't fuel coming out when I open the bleed valve?

Thanks for any advice!

What van and year of manufacture it’s possible that if your van has a mechanical lift pump it’s knackered seen it before that van will run ok until it’s runs out of fuel or filter removed we used to get it regularly on Bosch pumps on Dennis Dart bus they would run till ran out of fuel
