Alternator help wiring

Postby Kenny77 » Wed Jul 09, 2025 7:04 pm

Hi all just fitted an alternator to my 1989 motorhome 2.5 d
It’s had a 97 onwards fitted so bought same unit

Now the plug coming from alternator with blue wire and grey
Where exactly do these go I’ve got a red lead attached at one end to alternator and probably going to leisure battery with a blue wire coming from it see pics
I take it blue goes to blue?
Daft question but don’t want wreck new alternator
Cheers

It doesn't look like the blue wire goes anywhere after entering the tape with the two red wires, unless its behind the red wires in the photo?
Were they attached to your original alternator?

Yes, the blue will go to the blue/black wire. (Assuming the blue was connected to your previous alternator. It should be connected to the warning lamp on the dash)

Unless you have a revcounter the black/white one will remain disconnected
