Steering problem

Postby dibsy1965 » Thu Jul 10, 2025 3:37 pm

Hi all,

I have just had my cambelt and associated belts replaced on my mk 5 campervan, i now have the steering constantly pulling to the left and an awful squeal when starting off.
The squeal is obviously a loose belt, but would the steering issue be connected to this?
cheers,
Dibsy

I've never known a loose belt cause pulling to any side, it just squeals and doesn't turn smoothly, tighten the belt obviously and see, but I would also be looking at the left side for anything untoward.

As chug said it could be broken spring wheel bearing or caliper seizing plus check tyre pressure and anything else that you did has it been jacked up on the lower arms and bent it there is a warning in the handbook but never heard of it happening myself.
