Fitting a priming bulb

Postby mk3_wrc » Sat Nov 01, 2025 6:16 pm

Hi all,

I've got a van with an epic pump.

I ran out of fuel.

I can't get it primed. I bought a new fuel filter and filled it with diesel, I've cracked all the injectors but no fuel coming out. Cranked for probably a total of about 240 seconds over the past week.

Took the feed pipe off the filter housing and cranked and it spaffed diesel all over so its definitely feeding from the lift pump.

Where would one fit a priming bulb? Or another method? Pressuring the tank by way of a foot pump or something somehow?

TIA.

Sounds like an injection pump problem

Hope not... on 46k miles full service history and no issues prior to this.
I have since managed to get fuel to the injectors but it seems fizzy?? Maybe a fitting not done up right...

It's probably air in the system, epics can be a pain to bleed, the fizzy fuel at the injectors seems to indicate air, have you got any easy start or someone who can give you a tow?

Easy start yes, someone to tow no. Its 3.1t with me in it so would need something with a decent towbar lol.

Will give easy start a blast.

Few squirts of easy start with injector 2 cracked and she sparked up and back to its usual silky smooth purr
